MORGANTOWN — The region’s current heat wave that AccuWeather is describing as “relentless,” is going to stay that way, meteorologist Danielle Knittle said.
That includes Wednesday’s July 4th holiday, which is a day off for many.
“You’ll definitely want the sunscreen and the bottled water if you’re going to be out on the fourth,” she said. “Wear light-colored clothing. Stay hydrated.”
North-central West Virginia isn’t the only region feeling the heat, Knittle said.
“This weather pattern is really extending from the Rockies to the East,” she said. “Right now, it’s pretty relentless, with the heat and humidity.”
In neighboring Pennsylvania, city officials Sunday placed Philadelphia under a “heat health emergency,” according to AccuWeather reports.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s 92-degree day here will be followed by a projected high of 90 today, Knittle said.
And look for the thermometer to register twin 95-degree marks both Tuesday and Wednesday, for the holiday, she said.
So far, no records have been broken in our region, the meteorologist said.
The mercury will drop back to the 80s for weekend, Knittle said, with the possibility of heavy thunderstorms Friday.
