GRANVILLE — Jose Fermin singled twice as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers topped the West Virginia Black Bears, 8-4, on June 30.
Down 1-0, the Scrappers took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. Clark Scolamiero hit a two-run double en route to the four-run lead. The Scrappers added single runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth innings.
Randy Valladares (2-0) got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless relief while West Virginia starter Alex Manasa (1-2) took the loss in the New York-Penn League game.
