Samuel Dwight Schnopp, 70, entered into rest at Allegheny General Hospital, in Pittsburgh, on June 27, 2018. The son of the late Robert Floyd and Allie Mae Sisler Schnopp, he was born November 12, 1947, on a farm in Hazelton.
He began his career at C & P telephone company, worked with Bell Atlantic and retired with 32 years of service as a supervisor in engineering with Verizon. He served as Union Local 2004 Vice President for several years. Sam was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church on Smithtown Road. He was an avid golfer and bowler and loved travelling to the Outer Banks. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Sam served in the Army and was a proud veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Linn) Schnopp of 45 loving years; one son, Philip and partner Stephanie Jackson; three grandchildren, Christian Hadley, Calen Brady, and Cian Avery; sister, Hazel Spiker; six nephews; one niece; and his buddies Diesel and Thumper.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, David Paul Schnopp; and infant sister, Edna Faye Schnopp.
Family and friends will be received at Fred L Jenkins Funeral Home, from 2-4 p.m., on Sunday, July 1 and from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on Monday, July 2. Funeral services will be at Pisgah United Methodist Church, on Smithtown Rd, at noon on Tuesday, July 3, with Pastor Jim Zinn and Pastor Randy Vincent officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion cemetery.
