MORGANTOWN — Ryan Bashour, of Morgantown, shot a 1-over-par 72 this week at The Pines Country Club to lead 17 players who qualified for the 85th West Virginia Open.
Bashour played steady golf as he began his round with six straight pars followed by the first of his three birdies on the day, on the par-4 seventh hole.
Claiming a tie for second were Bailey Mohr, of Fairmont, and Chase Voithofer, of Morgantown, at 73.
The others who qualified include Buck Gower, John and John M. Francisco, John Kingora, Chuck Workman, Ryan Mason, Sean Covich, Elijah Knight, Marco Oliverio, Tyler Franklin, Matt Saab, Chad Griffith, Mason Short and Skip Heiskall.
Grabbing the two alternate positions were Doug Wallace (third statewide alternate) and Jared Bryant (ninth statewide alternate), who both carded 81.
