Man arrested after reports of gunshots fired at Marjorie Gardens Apartments

MORGANTOWN — A Morgantown man arguing with others got a gun from his apartment and fired shots toward the men.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department charged Brandon Joseph Dixon, 28, with three counts of wanton endangerment and one count of felon in possession of a firearm, a release from the sheriff’s department stated. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired at Marjorie Gardens, on Dorsey Lane, at 6:18 p.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s press release. Witnesses told deputies there was a fight involving three men, and at one point, the fight escalated to gunshots.
The cause of the fight was not clear Thursday and is one of the things deputies are continuing to investigate, Chief Deputy Al Kisner told The Dominion Post.
According to a criminal complaint, Dixon retrieved a handgun from his apartment and then fired four shots in the direction of building 7100. Two vehicles were hit — three people were in one of them. The two men Dixon was arguing with left in a black vehicle.
No one was injured during the confrontation, the release stated.
Witness statements, evidence and security video led deputies to the apartment where Dixon was hiding. He was convinced to give himself up and was arrested without incident.
Dixon was convicted of robbery in 2015.
He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Felon in possession of a firearm is punishable by up to five years incarceration and/or a fine of not more than $5,000. Wanton endangerment carries a statutory sentence of one to five years in prison, or, at the court’s discretion, not more than a year in jail and/or a fine of no less than $250 and not more than $2,500.
