Elizabeth A. “Betty” Elder, 80, of Morgantown, formerly of Greensburg, Pa., died Monday, June 25, 2018, at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born April 20, 1938, in Greensburg, Pa., a daughter of the late George P. and Emma M. (DePasquale) Macko.
Prior to retirement she had been a registered nurse working at Jeannette Hospital, in Jeannette, Pa., West Virginia University Hospital and Health South Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Paul Parish, in Greensburg, Pa.
Betty was a graduate of Greensburg High School, West Virginia University and the Latrobe Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Purple Pansy Red Hats, Monongalia County Historical Society and the Westside Senior Citizens Center.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Elder in 2009 and her sister-in-law, Judith C. Macko.
She is survived by her brother, George E. Macko, of Palm Coast, Fla.; her sister, Joann M. Dreistadt, of Bolingbrook, Ill.; two nieces; three great-nephews; her step-son; her step-daughter and four step-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Leo M. Bacha Funeral Home, in Greensburg, Pa., from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., on Friday, June 29. Prayers will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated in St. Paul Parish at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in St. Clair Cemetery, in Greensburg, PA.
