Jackie Lee Gibson Cowell, 74, of Spraggs, Pa., died at 6 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2018, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1943, in Steuben-ville, Ohio. A daughter of the late Kenneth Gibson and Ruth Snowden Gibson.
Mrs. Cowell was Methodist by faith. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, in Toronto, Ohio. She enjoyed playing bingo, showing horses and spending time on her farm
in Spraggs. She loved watching the Steelers and Mountaineeer football. For 20 years, she worked at the physical plant at WVU as a custodian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Cowell, who died in 1998.
Surviving are a daughter, Kimberly Degler, of Pursglove; two grandchildren, James Batcho and Corey Degler; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Jo Batcho; two sisters, Donna Swiger, of Weirton, and Ruth Ann Kanieki, of Empire, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Gibson, of Steubenville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Cowell, who died in 1998; and a son, James Joseph Batcho.
There will be a greeting of friends and family at Milliken and Throckmorton FH Inc., Mount Morris, Pa., from 1 p.m. Saturday, June 30, until the 3 p.m. memorial serivce with the Rev. Jacob Judy officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
