Willard Ray Kelley, 88, of Bruceton Mills, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center.
The son of the late Albon and Sadie Cupp Kelley, he was born Aug. 6, 1929, in Centenary.
Willard was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 2523 of Bruceton Mills. He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, working on lawnmowers and driving his
antique tractor in parades. Employed at Lakeview Country Club from 1954-’91 as a groundskeeper, he took pride in meticulously maintaining his own yard.
He is survived by a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Tom Dennis, of Bruceton Mills; two granddaughters and their spouses, Joni and Rik Woodland, of Bruceton Mills, and Robin and Jeremy Self, of Durbin; five great-grandchildren, Hatti and Ainsley Woodland and Grayson, Gunner and Avalyn Self; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Willard was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel King Kelley on July 9, 2016; three sisters, Martha Titchenell, Mary Seese and Jean Bucklew; and three brothers, Junior, Harry and Bray Kelley.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 4-8 p.m. Monday, and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, until the 11 a.m. service in the funeral chapel with Pastor Tim Wot-ring and the Rev. Joe Lamm officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, in Bruceton Mills (Pisgah). Military honors will be provided by the Preston County Honor Guard.
