Beloved husband, devoted father and best friend to many, John J. Mullennex Jr. passed away in his sleep Thursday, June 14, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judith Baer Mullennex; his daughters, Lisa Lee Winland and Sheryl Dehner; and his sister, the Honorable Sarah Minear, of Morgantown, who served the state of West Virginia as a state senator for several years.
“Big John” was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter for many years. He had a State Farm Insurance Agency for 39 years, in Fairmont, and served twice as president for the Rotary Club of Fairmont.
Big John loved cheering for the West Virginia Mountaineers. He was an annual season ticket holder and financial contributor to the club for many years. Many people’s lives were enriched from his love and made better by his generosity, compassion and kindness.
Friends will be received at First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., from 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, until the memorial service at 2 p.m. to celebrate the life of this great man.
