MORGANTOWN — If a purpose of art is to move, the handful of creative kids at Spark! Imagination and Science Center on Friday were creating masterworks.
FYI, that’s move as in motion, not emotion.
“This is Art in Motion, and so it’s about kinetic art or art that moves, essentially,” Spark! Education Director Tiffany Martin explained. “So they’re making movable pieces of art to take home.”
Friday’s gathering was a continuation of special Friday hours that will run through the end of July, called Young at Art.
“Every Friday we’ll have extended hours from 4-7 p.m. It’s regular admission,” Martin said. “We’re trying to offer something different in terms of hours because we’re typically open from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. So this gives an opportunity for kids whose parents work during the day to be able to come in for some science and art in a nice, creative space.”
Spark! Imagination and Science Center is located in the Mountaineer Mall, at 5000 Green Bag Road. Regular admission is $6 per child and $2 per adult. Memberships are available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
