ELKINS — A disastrous seventh inning cost the Morgantown Post 2 American Legion baseball team a win Friday June 15, at the Hillbilly Hardball Classic.
Leading, 6-3, Post 2 gave up seven runs in the top of the seventh inning and fell to Lexington (Ky.), 10-7.
Evan Smith took the loss in relief of starter Cam Stoldt. The two pitchers combined to allow all seven runs in the final inning, although two costly Post 2 errors helped lead to two unearned runs in the frame.
Morgantown had 10 hits on offense, with Devon Neal hitting a home run and he drove in three.
Caleb Taylor and Chandler Watts also added two hits for Morgantown and Andrew Berry added a double and scored two runs.
