Edward Lewis Nestor, 93, of Gladesville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 15, 2018, at Mapleshire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Edward was born April 18, 1925, in Arden, the son of the late Howard and Edna (Sayre) Nestor.
He was a Christian by faith and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Gladesville. He taught Sunday School, served as Superintendant and was a Deacon.
He helped establish and was leader of the Gladesville 4-H club for many years. He was a veteran of WWII. He owned and operated Nestor’s slaughter house for over 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 yrs, Helen (Helms) Nestor and sisters, Thelma Timmons and Mary Lou Stein.
He is survived by his sons, David Nestor (Sharon) and Jerry Nestor (Becky), of Gladesville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gilliam and husband Shawn, of Morgantown, Brian Nestor, of Portland, Ore, Rachel Nestor, of Morgantown and Kristin Szewczyk and husband Kyle, of Waynesburg, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Ky and Karmyn Szewczyk and Zoey and Reagan Gilliam; one brother, Branson Nestor and wife Marie, of Burton, Mich. and one sister, Margie Calvert and husband Fred, of Gallipolis, Ohio.
Friends and family will be received at Morgan Funeral Home, in Reedsville, from 2-8 p.m., on Monday, June 18 and will be continued at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Gladsville, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, for the funeral service with Pastor Ron Ford officiating. Interment will follow at the Gladesville Cemetery.
