WESTON — A post-trial motions hearing for Lena Lunsford Conaway will be held later this month, giving the state time to review motions filed by her defense.
Her attorney, Tom Dyer, made a motion for acquittal, suggesting that the state did not share evidence during the trial that could potentially clear Lunsford Conaway of wrongdoing.
Lunsford Conaway was convicted of four felony charges in April relating to the death of her then 3-year-old daughter Aaliyah Lunsford.
However, Dyer argued the state didn’t prove Aaliyah was murdered, there was no cause of death given to the jury and the girl’s body has never been found.
During a Friday hearing, Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Christina Flannigan requested “a week or two” to review the motions filed by Dyer.
Dyer had no objections to the request.
Consequently, a post-trial motions hearing will be held before Lewis County Judge Jake Reger at 10 a.m. June 19.
