Dolores Jean “Jeanie” Payne, age 80, of Morgantown, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center. Jeanie was born in David, Ky. on November 24, 1937, a daughter of the late Sam Wall and Elizabeth Durham Ogle.
Jeanie was a loving homemaker for her husband and son and later worked in retail sales. She managed Uniforms Unlimited and also worked for Belk for many years. She previously was a member of Westover United Methodist Church and more recently was a longtime member of Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church. Throughout her home, work and church Jeanie brought sunshine and love to everyone she came across.
Jeanie is survived by her son, Peter S. Payne and wife Melissa, of Clayton, N.C.; grandson and apple of her eye, Evan Payne; two very special cousins, Judy Peterson and Emily Vannarsdall and special friend, Connie Barnett and family.
In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Alfred Payne; longtime companion, Jerry Timbrook and sister, Vada Ann Szurgot.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Source Lunchbox Program at Kingdom EMC, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover, WV 26501.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 1, with the funeral service to follow with the Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services after the funeral.
