Morgantown native participates in Scripps National Spelling Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Morgantown native, Aiden Arnett, 14, a seventh grader at Mountaineer Middle School, is participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee this week, in Washington, D.C.
This is Arnett’s second consecutive year participating in the bee. Last year, Arnett made it to the third round before being eliminated.

Arnett arrived in D.C. on Sunday and participated in a Memorial Day picnic at the National Arboretum.  The spelling bee kicked off Tuesday morning with an intensive vocabulary test.  Later in the day, the first-round of spelling began.

The second round is Wednesday, followed by the finals on Thursday evening, which will be broadcast on ESPN.
