Man charged with malicious assault for beating two women

KINGWOOD — A Tunnelton man is charged with beating two women with a log, a fan, and a metal pipe.
Matthew Lee Turner, 33, was charged with two counts of malicious assault and one count of burglary. He was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Tuesday in lieu of $150,000 bond.
According to the criminal complaint by Preston Deputy B.E. Hovatter: On Saturday a woman called 911 from the No. 4 Store, in Tunnelton. The woman said she fled her home to make the call. She had “large amounts of blood” on her, a laceration on her head and bruising on her back, arms and legs.
The victim said Turner was arguing with the second woman, who came to the caller’s home to escape him. Turner followed and beat both women with several items, then smashed the caller’s phones before she escaped.
Officers could not find the other victim at the caller’s home but found blood splatter in several locations, a log on the floor, a broken oscillating fan with blood splatter, and a pair of fireplace tongs on the floor.
Officers found the second victim at the store, where she also fled. She was bleeding from her nose and had several contusions and said Turner took away her car keys.
