Class/school reunions

Masontown Valley
The Masontown Valley High School 50th-year class reunion will be held June 9, at noon in the Arthurdale Center Hall. Graduates of other VHS classes are welcome to come and visit later in the afternoon.

UHS class of 1960
The University High School class of 1960 reunion will be held from noon-5 p.m. June 16, at the Westside Senior Center on Dupont Road, Westover.
Chicken and bottled water will be provided. Please bring a covered dish to share. For information call Carol at 304-328-5340.

MHS class of 1968
The Morgantown High School Class of 1968 will celebrate its 50th-year Golden Reunion June 22-24 in Morgantown.
A schedule of events is as follows:
— 6 p.m. June 22, cocktails at Holiday Inn Atria’s (cash bar)
— 10 a.m. June 23, tour of Morgantown High School by the MHS Foundation
— Noon June 23, golf outing at Lakeview (must pre-register)
— 5 p.m. June 23, registration at Holiday Inn ballrooms, followed by a class picture at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., class meeting and prizes at 7:45 p.m. and dinner and celebration at 8:30 p.m.
— 1 p.m. June 24, picnic at Dorsey Knob Pavilion (families welcome). Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks provided. Bring a covered dish to share. There will be a handcraft auction, bring handcrafted items to auction.
Cost of the reunion is $10 to attend the picnic only, or $60 per person for all activities (excluding golf outing) and an MHS souvenir.Bring any memorabilia to share.

UHS class of 1968
The University High School class of 1968 will hold its 50th class reunion from 4-9 p.m. July 28 at The Clubhouse Grill at the Pines Country Club. Cost is $35 per person, due by June 1 with RSVP. Write/mail checks to Brenda J. Freeman, 1331 Kingwood Pike, Morgantown, WV 26508.

Family reunions
Shaffer-Abernathy
All friends and family of the late Carl Wade and Ruth (Abernathy) Shaffer are invited to a reunion at 1 p.m. May 26, at Maple Springs Church Fellowship Hall. There will be a covered-dish luncheon.

Chestnut Pub
The Chestnut Pub was a bar and restaurant that operated in downtown Morgantown from 1979-’88. All former employees, customers, softball players and friends welcome. Begin with a wiffle ball game May 26, followed by a bar crawl. On May 27, there will be brunch, followed by a golf outing and reunion party. Shinnston Alumni Association mini reunion

The Shinnston High School Alumni Association will host a mini reunion on July 21, at Lincoln High School, 100 Jerry Toth Drive in Shinnston.

At 4 p.m., the doors will open for a catered dinner inside the school; dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person, and you must have a ticket for entry. Seating is limited, so register early. The alumni association must have your check and reservation form on or before June 30. Send your name, class year, and full mailing address along with a check made out to SHS Alumni Association for $20 per reservation. Mail your note and your check to SHS Alumni Association, PO Box 352, Shinnston, WV 26431. You will receive your ticket by return mail.

The Alumni Parking Lot Party begins at 6 p.m. and continues until midnight. Bring a pop-up tent, a table and snacks for your class. The association will provide water and soft drinks. Don’t forget folding chairs, as there is limited seating outside. You may set up your class’ tent any time before the event. You are welcome to attend the party, even if you don’t attend the dinner.

The Alumni Room at the Bice-Ferguson Memorial Museum, 400 Pike Street in Shinnston, will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. the same day, and Shinnston High School merchandise will be on sale. There is a staircase leading to the Alumni Room, and there is a stair lift, should you need it.

Typically, the association holds reunions every four years, with the next reunion scheduled for the summer of 2020. However, after the 2016 reunion, the association steering committee received many requests for more frequent events. The committee voted to hold a trial mini reunion this year. If well-attended, it will become annual.
