Charles Roger “Butch” Renner, 80, of Morgantown, passed away at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 14, 2018, with his family by his side. Butch was born in Morgantown on March 31, 1938, to the late John and Ruby Ullery Renner.
Butch was a maintenance supervisor and worked for Consol Energy and also worked for Francis Engineering as an electrician. He was a lifetime member of Granville VFD and also formerly served there as Chief. In his spare time, Butch enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. Above all hobbies, he was devoted to the care of his family and enjoyed spoiling and spending time with his grandchildren.
Butch is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Corley Renner; sons, Charles Roger Renner II and his wife Mary Beth, of Granville and Craig Alan Renner, of Granville; grandchildren, Charles Roger Renner III and his wife Maddie, of Granville, Brian Renner and Chelsea Haas, of Granville, Emily Renner and Adam Dudas, of Granville, and Ryan Renner and Chelsea Rosenberger, of Morgantown; one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Maisyn Renner, due to arrive in July; sister, Joyce Whitaker and her husband Derek, of Augusta, Ga.; brothers, Gary Renner and his wife Barbara, of Granville and Donnie Renner and his companion Joyce, of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Wade and Judy Jones.
Friends are invited to gather in support of the family at McCulla Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, May 17, and from 10-11 a.m., on Friday, May 18, with the funeral service to follow with Pastor Jim Weber officiating. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Mausoleum.
