Woman killed in single-vehicle accident on I-68

KINGWOOD — A woman was killed in an accident early Wednesday May 9 on Interstate 68, according to a release from the Preston County Sheriff’s Department.

Names of those involved in the accident are not being released at this time.

According to the release, about 12:14 a.m. deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash near the 16 mile marker of I-68 west.

They found a 1999 Toyota four-door car with Pennsylvania registration, westbound on I-68 left the roadway to the right and hit a road sign. The vehicle continued west and struck two concrete pillars for the bridge overpass.

The male driver was taken to the hospital for injuries. The female passenger died on scene due to her injuries, according to the release.
