MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Commission touched on a number of items during a short regular Wednesday meeting.
The commission approved a consulting agreement with Maryland-based MuniCap to project the assessed value of property within the University Town Centre Development (TIF) District.
The cost, estimated at $18,000, will be paid on a reimbursement basis.
According to the agreement, invoices shall be payable as an administrative expense from the tax increment revenues of the district or shall be payable by developer WestRidge.
In other county news, the commission approved a contract with Proactive Risk Solutions for voluntary benefits for county employees.
The commission noted the contract was needed due to a management change with the company — formerly A Charitable Life — and that any county employees already participating will continue to be enrolled.
“Employees will receive the same benefits, plus additional benefits,” County Administrator Rennetta McClure said. “The employees already on the plan, I believe there’s 49, that will automatically take effect.”
McClure said representatives of the company will be at the courthouse later this month to accept any new enrollments.
Lastly, the commission approved a reimbursement for $41,125 pertaining to the second phase of work at the Morgantown Industrial Park tax increment finance (TIF) district.
The commission also:
- Announced openings on the following boards and commissions: West Run Board of Zoning Appeals, Monongalia County Planning Commission, River Road Public Service District, Mountain Line Transit Authority and Monongalia County Development Authority.
- Granted a request for use of the courthouse square by VFW Post 548 for a Memorial Day ceremony on May 28.
- Commissioner Ed Hawkins conducted the meeting. Commission President Tom Bloom was attending a family graduation.
