KINGWOOD — Bruceton Mills and Rowlesburg held city elections Tuesday.
While Bruceton’s incumbents ran unopposed, Rowlesburg residents elected a new mayor and mostly new council. Incumbent Mayor Barbara Banister chose not to run, as did many council members.
Unofficial results showed a write-in candidate, who was not identified on county tally sheets, garnered 122 votes (75.78 percent) for mayor, while Mike Sinclair got 39 (24.22 percent) for mayor. Eric Bautiste ran a write-in campaign for mayor.
Five were elected to council. Incumbents are denoted with an (i). Rowlesburg Council tallies were: Delores Riggs, 149 (21.13 percent); Eric Baumgardner, 148 (20.99 percent); T.J. Hawkins, 112 (15.89 percent); E. Betty Moats (i), 100 (14.18 percent); Art Sigley, 99 (14.04 percent); Christopher Scott Arbogast (i), 57 (8.09 percent).
Kim Felton was the only candidate for Rowlesburg recorder and got 138 votes.
In Bruceton the unofficial tallies were: Mayor Cathy Smith, 18 (100 percent). Council tallies were: Myron Livengood, 22 (23.16 percent); Dale Benson, 20 (21.05 percent); Kraig Whitehair, 19 (20 percent); Freda Smith, 18 (18.95 percent); C. Laura Dulaney, 16 (16.84 percent).
