Marilyn Jo (Auvil) Swisher, of Seville, Fla., formally of Ormond Beach, Fla., since 1963, passed away on May 3, 2018.
She was born in Morgantown and was the daughter of the late William D. Auvil and Mary Anne Auvil.
She was a Morgantown High School graduate and a graduate of the West Virginia University, where she earned a degree in education. She also earned a masters degree from the Saudi Women’s University and a doctorate from Florida University.
She owned The Playground Nursery School, in Ormond Beach, and the Ultimate Figure Salon, in South Daytona. She was a teacher and also worked for the Ormond Hotel, Dixie Queen Riverboat, the cable company, Publix and she spent 14 years in Saudi Arabia taking care of and teaching six princesses of the royal family.
She did years of volunteer work for the Rape Crisis Center, Junior Women’s Club, Flower Club, City of Ormond Beach Santa Land, Sunday School of Lutheran Church and many others.
She is survived by three sons, Charles H. Swisher Jr. (Susi), of Ormond Beach, Scott E. Swisher (Tina), of Ormond Beach and William B. Swisher (Judy), of Orange City; five grandchildren, Anthony (Vickie), Morgan, Blake, Connor and Benjamin; one great-grandchild, Mika; two sisters, Patty Auvil Smerdell, of Pennsylvania, and Penny Auvil Cypert, of Morgantown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mary Auvil; a niece, Cyndi Lynn Kovac (Cypert); and her former in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. L. Bush Swisher.
At her request, no services will be held.
