MORGANTOWN — In honor of National Nurses Week May 6-12, Mon Health Medical Center recognized their nursing staff with a celebration Friday.
As part of the celebration, Mon Health Medical Center’s Cardinal Award winners from May 2017-April 2018 were recognized. The Cardinal Award is given monthly to a nurse who is nominated by his or her co-workers for exemplifying Mon Health’s mission, vision and values daily.
Out of the 12 winners, Linda Reed was selected as this year’s grand prize Cardinal Award winner. Reed is a Morgantown native and has worked at Mon Health Medical Center as a registered nurse for 40 years in different departments. She currently works in the hospital’s pre-/post- procedure orthopedics center.
“It is such an honor and a privilege to serve the dedicated professional nurses of Mon Health,” said Daphne Scordato, vice president of patient care services at Mon Health Medical Center.
“Mon Health has a long history of providing exceptional patient care and experiences. I am simply amazed at the wonderful quality outcomes and beautiful patient stories that I hear about every day. These outcomes and heartwarming stories are the result of the dedicated and personalized care that our nursing staff provides to this community every day.”
Cardinal Award winners from this past year include Amy DeFazio, Carla Gum, Latisha Horton, Heather Livengood, Melody Mancini, Betty Nicholson, Reed, Nora Swanson, Sommar Swisher, Melissa Turner, Paula Wilderotter and Janice Yoskovich.
