MORGANTOWN — The Morgantown Utility Board (MUB) took over billing for Republic Services’ residential trash and recycling customers in Morgantown on Tuesday.
In a press release issued by MUB, General Manager Tim Ball said he envisions the partnership will be a benefit to customers.
“The new billing process offers garbage customers a variety of new conveniences,” Ball said. “Not only does this consolidate water, wastewater, stormwater and garbage services into a single bill, it also extends MUB’s payment options to garbage services. These options include the ability to pay garbage bills over the phone, online or through automatic payment using MUB’s current invoicing system.”
Ball went on to say that MUB excels at customer service and already has experienced staff and the needed software in place.
“What’s more, we already provide garbage billing for Westover and Granville, so we have the experience and a track record of success,” Ball said.
MUB’s role is purely related to billing. Republic Services remains responsible for garbage services and the city is responsible for establishing rates. All issues related to garbage services should be addressed to Republic Services at 304-366-8900, via the city’s online citizen request tracker at morgantownwv.gov or by calling the city directly at 304-284-7405.
If a question is related specifically to garbage billing, water, stormwater or sewer services, MUB should be contacted at 304-292-8443 or mub.org/contract. MUB has also posted some frequently asked questions on its website.
“Our staff, City of Morgantown staff and Republic Services representatives worked extremely hard at ensuring our success,” Ball said. “Their hard work speaks volumes of our commitment to customer service. After all, providing excellent customer service is what this is all about.”
