On April 23, 2018, at 2:23 p.m., our beloved, Christopher Ladd Harker, took his last breath.
Chris was born and raised in Clarksburg, lived in Morgantown while attending WVU and working as a Senior Systems Analyst for the university for a while, and was most recently a resident of Seaford, Va.
He is survived by his lovely wife Deane Bender Harker, originally from N.C. and a graduate of U.N.C. Chris was a loving and devoted husband to his cherished wife, Deane. She was the love of Chris’ life and he the love of hers. They were soulmates in every sense of the word.
Chris was also a treasured, respected, and admired brother. Along with his wife, Chris is survived by brothers, Timothy Lynn Harker of Potomac, Md., Daniel Tobin Harker of Clarksburg, and sister, Melissa Harker Ridenour of Morgantown. Chris was a giving father to two surviving sons, and a beloved step-father to his two step-daughters, Miss-E Sailes and Buffey Anderson who currently reside in Seaford, Va.
Memorial service plans are incomplete at this time.
Our hearts are broken, but Chris will always fill them abundantly with many wonderful memories. We wish to memorialize Chris with this original eulogy poem as it expresses the way that we, his family, feel at this sorrowful time in our lives:
You were not just a dream,
Unless life is a dream as we sleep,
And you have awakened to tease our dreams
With memories
And impressions.
With happy hurt in our hearts
And silent song in our souls,
You remain.
For this dream has no end.
