KINGWOOD — Beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at Preston Community Arts Center, 123 S. Price Street, Kingwood, The Company House Road Band will play music from the early rock and roll of the ’50s through the ’70s, with a lot of country-western incorporated. Band members have written and performed original songs as well.
The Company House Road Band consists of three members, all who are natives and residents of Preston County: Paul Riggins on guitar and vocals, David Temple on keyboards and vocals, and Danny Miller on bass guitar and vocals.
Riggins has played in several bands beginning in the late 1960s, most notably the Riggins Brothers. His early influences were from his family members and from singing in the church choir.
Temple was encouraged to play the piano by his mother and has an appreciation for the R&B of the ’50s and ’60s. He was in some of the earliest bands in Preston County following the musical British invasion of the ’60s.
Miller said his father, who played in a band in the late 1920s and 1930s, was his biggest influence. He bought Danny his first guitar at about 13. He has been in several bands over the years and he likes music from all eras and many genres, but he really likes songs that have strong melodies.
Price is $10 at the door for adults, and $5 for students.
Food and drink available next door at Brew Ha Ha.
