Jean Taylor Grose, 89, of Terra Alta (Cranesville community), died Monday April 23, 2018, at home with family by her side.
The daughter of the late Daniel Taylor and Elizabeth Sloan Harmison Williams, she was born May 18, 1928, in the Vanderlip community of Romney.
She was a member of the Romney Presbyterian Church and a constituent faithful attendent of Faith United Methodist Church. Jean earned her B.S. degree at Penn State University and her Master’s degree at WVU. She taught school for 32 years in Garrett County, Md.
She is survived by two sons and spouses, Chilton and Patty Grose, of Kingwood, and Charles Williams “Bill” and Patti Grose, of Cranesville; two sisters, Betty Sloan (Robert) Brown, of California, and Jane Wright Slocum, of Vanderlip; five grandchildren; Ben, Jason, John, Nathaniel and Anna; and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward Campbell Grose, on Feb. 7, 2014; a sister and spouse, Magdalene E. and John Sitar; and brother-in-law, Arthur Slocum.
Family and friends will be received at the Faith United Methodist Church, in Cranesville, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, with Pastors Ross Glotfelty and Daniel Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Cemetery, Cranesville.
