A WVU student who fell over a balcony at a Forest Avenue home Wednesday evening was taken to the hospital.
Colton Hodge, 22, of Falls Church, Va., fell backwards over a balcony more than 30 feet high about 5 p.m., according to a press release from the Morgantown Police Department. Officers arrived to find Morgantown Fire Department and Mon Health EMS providing treatment and Hodge was transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital where he had emergency surgery, the release states.
Thursday, a hospital spokesperson said they did not have Hodge listed as a patient; friends of Hodge, a brother of Phi Sigma Kappa, have been posting condolences on his passing on social media.
Chief Ed Preston told The Dominion Post the incident was an accident and there was no more information available at this time.
“We have been in touch with Colton’s family to offer our support during this difficult time. The University also has support and counseling services available through the Carruth Center for students, faculty and staff,” associate vice president and dean of students Corey Farris, said.
