MORGANTOWN —A fight on High Street sent one Morgantown man to the hospital while another was arrested Wednesday night.
Morgantown Police responded to the scene near Jasmine Grill at about 8:30 p.m. They found Charles Bishop, 50, of Morgantown, who was stabbed.
The suspect had run away, according to a Morgantown Police press release.
Bishop was transported to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He is in stable condition, according to the release distributed Thursday.
The suspect, Brady Piper, 40, of Morgantown, was later found on Willey Street, near University Avenue. He was arrested without incident, the release states. Piper is charged with malicious wounding and is awaiting arraignment. Malicious wounding is a felony punishable by two to 10 years imprisonment.
Joseph Byrd said he came upon the scene after the stabbing, while the police were taping off the area. He said a friend told him he saw the inciden, and the two men appeared to be drunk.
“They were arguing over who did time or something like that,” Byrd said he was told. “It was over something stupid, basically.”
