Jon W. Henry, 72, of North Manchester, Ind., formerly of Morgantown, died April 3, 2018, at his home in North Manchester, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Oct. 25, 1945, in Morgantown, he was a son of the late Reece and Geraldine Henry. He was Apostolic by faith and a long-standing member of the Chaplin Apostolic Church, of Morgantown. Jon retired from the Monongalia County Board of Education.
Jon had a passion for working with wood, creating beautiful hand-crafted art, which he designed for churches, family and friends.
Jon also was an advocate for animals and supported the Monongalia Canine Adoption Agency by rescuing furry friends to help find them forever homes. Baggarra, one of their favorites, would become a beloved member of their family.
Jon is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Linda Bunnell Henry, of North Manchester; daughter, Penny Piper, and husband, Frank, of Woodstock, Canada; daughter, Peggy Sickafus, and husband, Tom, of North Manchester; son, Rev. Jon E. Henry, and wife, Sylvia, of Morgantown; daughter, Charlene Huey, and husband, Barry, of Morgantown; daughter, Monica Henry, and companion, John, of Point Marion, Pa.; and a granddaughter, who he considered a daughter from birth, Latasha Henry, of North Manchester. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Carter Henry, and an infant son, little Edward Henry; daughter, Tina Henry Baughtman, and brother-in-law, James Bunnell.
Friends will be received at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, and again from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. Jon will lie in repose at The Lighthouse Cathedral, Kingwood Pike, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, with his son, the Rev. Jon E. Henry, and Pastor Edward Rowan officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers include Tom Sickafus, Will Mayle, Barry Huey, Ryan Henry, Jared Henry and Jonathan Henry.
