Asel Lee Kennedy, 74, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018, at Mon Health Medical Center, with his family by his side.
Asel was born in Westover, Jan. 12, 1944, a son of the late Paul Lee Kennedy and Stella Grubb Kennedy Brand.
Asel graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree and was an active member of the Sugar Grove Presbyterian Church.
Asel was a longtime Monongalia County extension agent and served as a Monongalia County commissioner. He was active in community affairs, serving with the FFA and the Monongalia County Fair board. Asel enjoyed his farm, a good game of golf and being with his family. He was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
Asel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Blaker Kennedy; daughter, Stephanie Burger, and husband, Michael, of Houston; son, Eric Kennedy, and wife, Chanin, of Boston; grandchildren, Rachel Welcher, and husband, John, Tori Broussard and husband, Daniel, Chris Kennedy and wife, Cietta, Megan Kennedy, Maddie Kennedy and Abby Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Juliette Kennedy and Blaker Broussard; sisters, Lola Trickett, Rose Ledsome and Mary Nations; and brothers, John Kennedy and William Kennedy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Asel’s memory to United Way, 278C Spruce St., Morgantown, WV 26505.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. Monday, April 9, until the 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Leonard Graham officiating.
McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services following the service.
