Steven Michael Koes, 42, passed away March 25, 2018, while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.
Steven resided in New York City.
He was born June 13, 1975, in Rochester, Minn., to Richard M. Koes and Mary (Lavoie) Koes.
Steven completed his last year of high school and first year of college at the Clarkson School in Potsdam, N.Y., in 1993. During his high school years, he distinguished himself as a trumpeter, winning a national contest sponsored by the MTNA as well as an International Trumpet Guild Scholarship.
In 1997, Steven graduated from Duke University. He received his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, in 2012.
Steven began his career as a senior software engineer with IBM in Durham, N.C. He served as the lead consultant and software architect for Synthis Corporation, in Atlanta. From there, he became the technical lead and manager of HBO in New York. He especially enjoyed his tenure at McGraw-HIll Higher Education, where he was VP of Assessment and director of software engineering in New York City. Most recently, he was the lead consultant to Rejuvenation MD NYC.
Steven is survived by his mother, Mary (Lavoie) Koes, of Litchfield, N.H.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard M. Koes.
Steven’s older brother, Derrick, lives in Pelham, N.H., with his wife, Meagan, and their two children, Ryan and Evan. His younger brother, David, lives in Pittsburgh, with his wife, Mary, and their two sons, Andrew and Alex. All four nephews treasured the time they spent with Uncle Steven. He was always fun loving and caring.
Steven leaves behind many dear friends to whom he was selflessly devoted. His optimism and passion for life blessed his family and friends. Words cannot describe the depth of our sadness.
