STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — The lead changed hands four times in the last two innings, but Steubenville got to bat last, and so came away with an 11-10 softball victory over University High on April 5.
The Hawks took a 4-3 lead with a run in the sixth inning, but the Big Red put up five runs in their half for an 8-4 edge.
The Hawks countered with six runs in the seventh inning to lead 10-8, but couldn’t get an out in the bottom half.
Yasmine Colebank went 2-for-2 for UHS, with a double and a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs.
Halei Johnson also homered, and drove in three runs for the Hawks.
Lindsey Vorndran had a double and two RBIs.
BASEBALL
Wheeling Park 4, University 3: The Hawks got a strong pitching performance from Cam Stoldt but managed just three hits in the loss to the Patriots.
Ross Mulhall had a double and two RBIs, and Stoldt homered for UHS, which plays at Brooke today.
BOYS’ LACROSSE
Latrobe, Pa., 10, Morgantown 3: LATROBE, Pa. — Noah Yohn netted two goals and Nate Goldcamp one for the Mohigans (4-2).
Goalies Daniel Pastilong and Zander Carson each made two saves.
The JV teams tied, 2-2.
MHS’s next game is Thursday, at Linsly.
