MORGANTOWN — The University High boys’ tennis took two of four singles matches and also won at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 4-3 victory over rival Morgantown High on April 2.
The Hawks were led by Drew Hawthorne, who defeated Ben Rosiello, 8-1, at No. 1 singles and Andre Barcinas won at No. 4 singles, 9-7.
The UHS No. 1 doubles team of Drew and Kyle Hawthorne won, 8-2.
UHS also won at No. 3 doubles, but complete names for the Hawks were not provided.
For MHS, Ataes Aggarwal won at No. 2 singles, 8-2, and Sam Gorski won at No. 3 singles, 9-8 (7-2).
The MHS No. 2 doubles team of Gorski and Hamilton Hall won, 8-4.

MORGANTOWN 7, UNIVERSITY 0
The Mohigans pulled off a complete sweep, while dropping just one game over four singles matches and three doubles matches.
Emma McKnight, Cat Wassick, Vinitha Joseph and Bella Mascari all won singles matches for the Mohigans (4-1).
The No. 1 doubles team of McKnight and Wassick, the No. 2 doubles team of Mascari and Mackenzie Saston and the No. 3 doubles team of Joseph and Ashalia Aggarwal all won, 8-0.
BASEBALL
MORGANTOWN 10, JOHN MARSHALL 0
Colton Matthews hit a grand slam to lead the Mohigans t a rout of the Monarchs.
The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
The Mohigans (6-3) got eight of those runs in the second inning, four coming from Matthews blast with the bases loaded.
The MHS offense was far from done. Quintin Smith, Caleb Taylor and Ethan Smith also hit home runs.
Senior Ethan Stewart picked up the complete-game shutout victory. He went five innings and allowed just four hits. He walked one and struck out five.
The Mohigans will play rival University High, at 5 p.m. today, at Mylan Park.
