KINGWOOD — A man out on bond while awaiting sentencing for a February conviction has been charged in connection with a 2016 theft.
Kevin Monroe Miller II, 28, of Newburg, was in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail Thursday in lieu of $100,300 bond. He was charged with receiving or transferring stolen property and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Miller was convicted in Preston Circuit Court in February of two counts of wanton endangerment in the 2016 shooting of his father and endangering others who were present at the time. Earlier this month, Miller filed motions to request a new trial.
At the time, Assistant Preston Prosecutor Megan Allender sought to have Miller’s bond revoked, saying he drove past two deputies and waved at them. She said his license is revoked. The driving charge relates to that incident. The judge refused to revoke his bond at the earlier hearing.
Regarding the stolen goods charge, Preston Sheriff’s Lt. J.H. Bryan said in a criminal complaint: On June 22, 2016, a 2015 Polaris Ranger 570 side-by-side and chainsaws were stolen from Aplundh trucks in the Kingwood Walmart parking lot.
On March 18, a Hampshire County deputy told Preston deputies they received a tip that a Polaris like that stolen was listed for sale on Facebook in Tunnelton. The seller, “Asea Miller,” provided a vehicle identification number that matched that of the stolen Ranger.
On Wednesday, a Preston deputy met with Asea Miller, followed her to a Stevenburg Road address and bought the Ranger from Kevin Miller II for $4,800.
