MORGANTOWN — The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour will return to Morgantown for its 14th year at 7 p.m. April 6 at the Metropolitan Theatre. The past number of years the show has sold out.
This year’s selection of eight films showcases more than two hours of cinematography telling stories that reflect a wide range of mountain experiences and portraits from mountain sports, culture and mountain environment to adventure.
Some highlights of the eight films that will be previewed:
Join three explorers, their kite-skis and their kayaks and head “Into Twin Galaxies: A Greenland Epic” (2016, Germany, 52 minutes).
Where are all the women in the adventure industry? Here’s your chance to find out in “Where the Wild Things Play” (2017 U.S., 4 minutes).
“Meet The Last Honey Hunter” (2017 Canada, 36 minutes), the only remaining man in a remote Nepalese village with the blessing of a forest spirit that allows him to harvest honey.
When you bring together art and mountain biking, you get “Intersection: Micayla” (2017, U.S., 5 minutes).
Selected from 400 entries, this year’s tour features a collection of action, environmental and adventure mountain films with stops in 550 locations in 40 countries in all seven continents.
Also, arrive at 6:30 p.m. and hear the acoustic, Americana sounds of the Red Turtle String Snappers.
Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Students receive a $3 discount with a school ID.
