WESTOVER — A pileup the afternoon of Mar. 27 caused I-79 southbound to briefly close.
Emergency services were alerted to the accident near mile marker 152, shortly before 2 p.m. Southbound traffic was stopped for roughly 20 minutes before a single lane was re-opened until the accident was cleaned up.
The five vehicle accident is still under investigation, but rain was likely a contributing factor, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputy D. Wilfong said.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department, Westover VFD, Mon Health EMS and Star City VFD EMS responded to the scene.
