Preston man pleads guilty to drug charges

KINGWOOD — Brandon Leroy Massie was sentenced to two to 10 years in prison In Preston Circuit Court on Thursday.

Under a plea agreement, Massie, 26, of Bretz, pleaded guilty to felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. Judge Lawrance Miller Jr. sentenced Massie to one to five years on each charge to run concurrent, with credit for time served.

Three other charges were dismissed.

Massie’s attorney, Lance Rollo, told the court this was his client’s first violation. He said Massie has no juvenile record or prior criminal history. He said Massie’s work history was sporadic but he has plans to assume control of his life. He asked that Massie be placed on probation and be given an application for drug court.

“You said you were selling drugs to support your habit and pay bills,” Miller told Massie. “You only completed 10th grade and have no GED.”

He said Massie hadn’t complied with his bond and has been using drugs since his plea hearing, “You haven’t complied with the rules and you are not an appropriate candidate for alternative sentencing,” Miller told Massie.
