MORGANTOWN — Alexander Hambrick will spend seven years on probation after he completed a 10-month stay at a facility for youthful offenders.
Hambrick was convicted of drunkingly running over Carli Sears on Stewart Street in January 2015. After drinking with friends, he drove his truck — with two passengers — on Stewart Street, where he went up onto the sidewalk and struck Sears as she walked with a friend. She died as a result of her injuries and Hambrick left the scene.
Hambrick previously pleaded guilty to DUI with death and leaving the scene of an accident with death. He was initially sentenced to the Anthony Center. He completed that program which allows him to be placed on probation. On Jan. 29, Monongalia County Circuit Court Judge Phillip Gaujot sentenced Hambrick to the probation term.
As part of his probation, Hambrick will also have to spend six month on home confinement and pay more than $15,000 in restitution.
