KINGWOOD — The Preston boys’ basketball team has struggled at the foul line this season.
The Knights’ difficulties there didn’t end Jan. 10.
PHS shot 48 percent (16 of 33) from the line in a 66-58 loss to Tucker County.
“The story of tonight was the foul shooting,” Knights coach Paul Koontz said. “We’re shooting 60 percent from the line, and we probably shot 30 percent from the field.”
Still, the Knights had a chance in the final minute. PHS trailed by three with 20 seconds to play but the turned the ball over after a timeout and never recovered.
“We kind of fell apart at the end,” Koontz said. “We battled all night. We ran out of gas in the final 20 seconds.”
Jake Livengood led PHS with 12 points. Andrew Lantz scored 11. Wesley Snyder led Tucker County with 20 points.
The Knights play again Jan. 12, at East Fairmont.
