MORGANTOWN — Abbie Coen scored 18 points and Ashten Boggs added 16 as the University High girls’ basketball team routed John Marshall, 61-47, on Jan. 3.
Zoe Murphy contributed 11 points and Mallory Napolillo 10 for the Hawks, who evened their record,
at 5-5.
“Our girls out-hustled John Marshall tonight,” UHS coach Ethan Brown said. “They played high-intensity defense and worked their rear ends off at the end of it.
“On the offensive side of the ball, the girls worked really well together. The passing lanes were wide open to them, and they took advantage of what the defense gave them.”
Shay Straughn paced John Marshall with a game-high 26 points.
UHS plays again at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 6, hosting Spring Mills.
