MORGANTOWN — Meadow Ponds Golf Course is shutting down Dec. 31.
A & A Homes Inc., of Inwood, W.Va., owns the property, said Kathy Stamper, who owns and operates the golf-course business.
Stamper said that when the housing development was first being built, the golf course was only guaranteed to be there for 10 years.
March 2018 will be 10 years, she said.
“It’s sad, because we’ve put so much into it,” Stamper said. “It was in bad shape when we got it, and we’ve made it really nice.
The property has not yet been sold, but Chris Wade, president of Meadows Property Owners Association said that the developer offered the association first shot at buying the property.
The association is voting on what to do and the outcome is not clear, Wade said.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a heated topic, but I’ve definitely heard both sides,” Wade said.
The asking price is $2.1 million for the course and clubhouse if the association finances through the developer and slightly less if outside financing is used.
Wade said that outside financing was unlikely.
