KINGWOOD — AFT-Preston Local 6430 and the Preston County Education Association are hosting a rally in support of state workers and public education 4-6 p.m. Feb. 9, in front of the Preston County Courthouse.
Local 6430 President Michelle Liga stressed that though the local is sponsoring the rally, the issues under discussion aren’t just about educators.
“It’s more just to get people’s attention about what’s going on,” Liga said. “Because they hear the news and they’re not sure what’s going on. And it’s not just the teachers.”
West Virginia State Police, local county workers, Department of Health of Human Resources workers, all are impacted by proposed changes to PEIA, she said.
The rally is being held “to tell our legislators that enough is enough,” the Preston County Rally for State Workers site on Facebook says.
