An 18-year-old man sentenced for burglary and robbery

MORGANTOWN — An 18-year-old man was sentenced to the Anthony Center for the crimes of burglary and aggravated robbery.

Korte Pettis, of Morgantown, previously pleaded guilty to the crimes.

Monongalia County Circuit Court Judge Phillip Gaujot suspended the given sentence of 10 years incarceration for robbery and 1-15 years for the charge of aggravated robbery in lieu of successful completion of the program at Anthony Center, which he said wasn’t a “cakewalk.”

Pettis is also required to pay more than $8,000 in restitution to his victims before his parole is over.

At the Mar. 20 sentencing hearing Pettis told the court his time in jail made him realize things, not only about what he had done, but about his future. He also acknowledge his actions were “wrong and stupid” and told the court he wanted to be there for his child.

“I’d like to offer my most sincere and deepest apology,” he said to the victims.
