Banana bread or chocolate chip cookies? No need to choose one

I don’t know about you, but my family loves homemade baked goods. It doesn’t really matter what it is as long as it is still warm out of the oven. However, the top two contenders in our house are definitely homemade chocolate chip cookies and banana bread. So, when I found a recipe on Pinterest for soft and fluffy chocolate chip banana bread cookies, I knew I had to try them.

It doesn’t matter how often I make them or how many I make, every batch of banana bread or chocolate chip cookies is  completely gone within a day and a half of baking them. They are that loved in my house. That’s why when I found this recipe, I was super excited to give it a try and add in a new homemade treat for the fam.

The best part of this new recipe is you can take your tried-and-true chocolate chip cookie recipe and just add one banana to it. I come from a family of baking women and have recipes that have been passed down generations. I use the same chocolate chip cookie recipe that my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother all used. Same with the banana bread. It makes the delicious sweet treat even better knowing that it has a special place in my family history.

For this hybrid banana bread cookie, you are going to start by mixing your chocolate chip cookie wet ingredients like normal. Then you will add one ripe banana to the wet ingredients. Make sure  the banana is ripe to give it the most amount of banana flavor. Once that is all mixed together,  add  the dry ingredients of your chocolate chip cookie recipe. Bake time will depending on how big a cookie you make — but for an average cookie dough scoop you want to bake them for about 10 minutes. That’s it. It really is that simple. A new twist on two classic recipes that is too simple to mess up.

I think this is going to be a new staple in my house. Perfect for when I don’t have enough ripe bananas for banana bread, but still have one to use before it goes to waste.
