Archetta DeBarr

Archetta Lou (Long) DeBarr, 89, of Tunnelton, passed away at Kingwood Healthcare Center, with her family by her side on June 27, 2024.  

She was born, Nov. 22, 1934, in Alton, Upshur County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Omer Clovis Long and Dana Lucille (Wyatt) Long Pringle.  

Her husband, Eugene O’Neil DeBarr, preceded her in death on Sept. 1, 2011. They were united in marriage on Nov. 22, 1953. 

Archetta was a 1953 graduate of Richwood High School. She was retired, having worked for many years as a secretary and bookkeeper for Carl Marsh, CPA and Seneca-Upshur Petroleum. She attended the Howesville United Methodist Church and the Kingwood Baptist Church. She spent many winters snow-birding in Florida. She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Buckwheat Stompers. She also enjoyed painting with watercolors, bird watching and feeding the birds. 

Surviving are three children, Andrea Lynne Kilkenny and husband, Theodore, of Tunnelton, Gregory Alan DeBarr, of Kingwood, and Lori Ann Murphy, of Lebanon, Pa.; six grandchildren, Alisa Kilkenny and companion, David, Tyler DeBarr and companion, Amanda, Bethany Scott and companion, Michael, Marissa Curtiss and companion, Anthony, Preston Murphy and Ashley Murphy and companion, Nick; nine great-grandchildren, Hunter Grimes, Ashlynn DeBarr, Colton DeBarr, Laurel Grimes, Levi Scott, Cameron Scott, Harper Curtiss, Tanner Grimes and Austin Curtiss; two brothers, Wyatt Dexell Long and wife, Patty, of Buchannon, and Dallas Ray Long and wife, Nancy, of Berkley Springs. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua DeBarr and one brother, Omer Fred Long. 

Friends and family will be received at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price St., Kingwood, WV, from 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1 until 2 p.m. A celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
