Enjoy local trails during Celebrate Trails Day

Kick off the spring trail season Saturday by joining the Mon River Trails Conservancy in a national Celebrate Trails Day event.

Across the United States, trail users will be having some fun at hosted events on rail-trails.

On the Mon River Rail-Trail, find the Spring Handmade Market: Art Walk in the Wharf District, Morgantown.

Enjoy shopping for hand-crafted jewelry, paintings, prints, wood art and other local artisan products from noon-5 p.m.

Vendors will be located along the rail-trail (mile 10), near Flour and Feed, Mountain State Brewing, Oliverio’s and Table 9 restaurants all the way to the Morgantown Singing Tree of Diversity mosaic.

Of the artisan sales, 10% will benefit the local rail-trails. Get a peek of 30 artists and their works at montrails.org/mrtc-handmade-market/

Morgantown Adventure Outfitters will have free rentals of bikes on the Mon River Rail-Trail and kayaks for a paddle on the Upper Mon River Water Trail from noon-6 p.m., based on availability. Learn more about the Morgantown Adventure Outfitters and its rental facility at Walnut Street Landing/Hazel Ruby McQuain Park.

The 2-Mile Spring Walk and Trail-side Fun will begin at 2 p.m.

A community walk with MRTC with the start and end at the MRTC Tent beside Table 9 restaurant. A great way to enjoy the day with other rail-trail friends and search for the first signs of spring. Pick-up a trail map and find out more about the Mon River Trails Conservancy. This is a free activity.

There will also be other free activities for kids and adults.
