Nathan Richard

Nathan Robert Richard, 26, of Morgantown, went to his eternal home on Saturday, April 13, 2024. He was a blessing and the love of our lives.

Nathan was born in Cincinnati on Jan. 28, 1998. He grew up in the Monroeville and North Fayette areas of Western Pennsylvania.

As a child, Nathan had a broad smile and a twinkle in his eye. He was always happy and loved playing all sports. He particularly excelled at football and track and field. Nathan was a leader on either side of the ball and was known for breaking long runs to score just as his team needed it. In track, Nathan competed for the Stallions, where he excelled as a sprinter and a jumper. Nathan amassed many victories while competing on the USATF circuit, including medaling in both the USATF Junior Olympics and USATF Junior National Championship.

A 2017 graduate of West Allegheny High School, Nathan continued his education at CCAC where he received a welding certificate. A jack of all trades, Nathan was quick to learn on the job site and had many experiences. His last position was as a general contractor with his friend and neighbor, Carl Morris.

He is survived by his parents, Mark Richard, of Morgantown, and Betsy Thomas, of Moon Township, Pa.; his fiancé, Jessica Fleming, of Morgantown; his brother, Zachary Richard, of Morgantown; grandmothers, Sara-Kay Knoche, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Victoria Beyer, of Hagerstown, Md. Nathan also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a slew of friends across the tri-state area.

Nathan will always be remembered for his love of life and his free spirit.

Nathan will be remembered in a Celebration of Life at his home on Saturday, April 20. Friends and family will be received by his survivors from 2-4 p.m., followed immediately by food and a gathering to commemorate Nate’s life.

Smith Funeral & Cremation Care and SFCC Crematory is providing care and guidance to the family.
